I had to put down my 28 year old mare today. I bought her when she was a 5 year old. So she has been part of the family for 23 years. She coliced real bad and I couldn't let her suffer anymore.

I hate to loose her. She packed alot of elk for me and was one great horse.

I just thank God for allowing me to share 23 years of my life with her.

That is bad,I have three buried on the place here and every one of them I had 25+ years. Kinda get attached to them.
Right now is bad time for colic and founder with new rich grass coming on loaded with sugars.

My condolences. It's never easy losing a critter that has been part of your family for 20 + years.
