You can use either elk or deer for this recipe, in fact, you can use the least desirable steaks like round. Cut the meat into chunks and roll in pancake batter. Flash fry it on each side in hot oil until brown, not burned or cooked through. Put it in a crock pot with two cans of stewed tomatoes and a package of brown gravy mix (follow the directions and add water). Put in some garlic salt and maybe some mushrooms. Let it cook on low all day. Serve over potatoes or rice and with dinner rolls. The meat in incredibly tender!

That sounds lipsmacking good. I'll have to try some of my venison that way. My son and I will enjoy it, but the womenfolk in my family won't eat venison. Oh well, their loss, more for us.
