| I was just about to post this up. Looks like a great alternative to Sitka. Looks like good performance and a great fit, hopefully it is quiter than my current UA outerwear. |

I'm not exactly sure what the price will be yet. _________________ "The beatings will continue until morale improves." |

Call me a cynic, but that looks like Sitka gear, but with a different name. The style, fit, and waterproofing looked like Sitka gear to me. The layering system sounds exactly like Sitka's too.
I think it looks great, but doesn't look like anything new. I'll be curious about their price point on this. It'd sure be nice if Sitka could get some competition to help bring down their prices. I'll also be curious how quiet the material is-- is it super quiet? If yes, I'll definitly be checking it out. |

No doubt UA makes high quality stuff. I have a lot of the Cold Gear , and it is unique in it's performance. But there are other areas of athletic wear I get the feeling that UA is slapping their logo on a generic product and relying on the brand recognition to be enough to distinguish it from others like it.
The question is, if this stuff arrived on the scene without a famous name attached to it, would it still turn your head?
I'd like to see a spray bottle on the fabric to see what repeated mist would do. But at first look it looks good. _________________ "There’s a land where the mountains are nameless, And the rivers all run god knows where; There are lives that are erring and aimless,And deaths that hang by a hair….

So the big question for me is, "What does it cost"? I don't mind buying clothes but I'll be darn if I'm going to buy a name!
Example: Wally World has Rocky cold weather gear on sale now for $9. Will UA keep me 7 times warmer for what you pay for the name?????? _________________ If your eyelashes don't fall off just from looking at your broadheads, they ain't sharp enough! |

There is truth to that, it seems like you see this all the time when you want to step up to premium gear. Would I spot 7 times as much game with swarovski binoculars than I do with my Nikons? The answer is NO, but the relationship between price and quality is almost never linear. The idea might be, if gear will give you one more opportunity, it may be worth it. Ex: spotting that buck bed at very low first light or your clothes keeping you just a little warmer or drier so that you can stick it out for the rest of the hunt.

And Sitka stole its design from Arc'teryx and others in the outdoor world. Its a system that works well so why go away from it. By taking ideas already being used and improving on them is actually a great way for innovation in my opinion. Plus, as you also mentioned, competition for comparible products makes for a better consumer market.
I mentioned it in my previous post but I think the athletic fit Sitka and UA are using is great, while I could still use a taller version. Until recently, I would be swimming in any outdoor clothing. I love gear targeted at athletic backcountry hunters. Gear is the best it has ever been and its only going to get better. |

Petersons Bowhunting gear issue has the top listed at 199 and the pants at 179. That is not a bad price at all. _________________ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. ~Phillipians 4:13~

| I just bought an outfit of Sitka gear!!! I love UA under garmets, but have felt they lacked in the outer garmets. The sitka ascent pants, and 90% jacket I got are unreal. I have never worn pants as comfortable as those. If UA has come out with a comparable product I am all over it. I could never find hunting clothes that fit right before. I agree hunting gear has never been as good as it is now. |

| i really like it (the fit and design), makes sense in the way it is made. Just too dang hot in arkansas to try it out. Most of their products i have had in the past are very durable and well made. |

| Has anyone tried the new Ridge Reaper gear. I would like to try before I buy, but I just got done talking to UA and they don't expect the product to be out until the begining of Sept. I think they are going to miss the boat, since a lot of bow hunters will want their gear before then. |

Chris,
Now that you have the Ridge Reaper in at the shop what are your thoughts? Do you feel it is comparable to the Sitka stuff? Is it only the jacket and pants or are there other pieces in the line? Just wanting to know more about it as I'm planning on pulling the trigger on the UA or Sitka gear soon for an upcoming mule deer hunt. Thanks |

I really am impressed with the new stuff. Its only a jacket and pants right now. Im guessing they will add other items to the line as it grows.
The one feature I really like is that the jacket is waterproof from the chest up for those damp days. It also has strategically placed vent around the kidney area to help keep you cool. The way the arms are cut allows for a full range of motion so drawing your bow you wont have it all bunched up.
The pants fit really nice. They arent all baggy like a lot of hunting clothes and are sized more like regular pants, not just Sm, Md, or Lg. They go by waist sizes so you will have a nice comfortable fit.
Price wise they are cheaper than Sitka by $50 when comparing it to the 90% jacket and pants so thats another plus in my book as well. _________________ "The beatings will continue until morale improves." |

I have looked into Sitka. I think I read somewhere on here you need to try the stuff on before you buy. There is no one around here that carries it. At least that I know of. I purchased the UA zip up hoody that has the brown fleece under the arms. It worked very well. I also purchased the thick fleece pants and with layering I did not feel a bit of wind come through them. I payed are 350 for the both of them. I purchased them from bass pro. Sooooooo I would know I had the proper fit. _________________ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. ~Phillipians 4:13~
