The grouse population here in central Idaho is down and I have been thinking about heading north. Anybody on here hunt north Idaho for grouse. I have been looking over some maps, but not sure of the topography or hot spots. I have been out scouting a few times and can't remember seeing or hearing any grouse.
I have hunted baldy mountain as a kid and remember shooting a blue grouse up there. I haven't been there in years but I remember it being a good place to go.
It's west of Sandpoint.
If I remember right some of it is behind locked gates now so access could be a bit of a problem.
I do recall one other place that I jumped a lot of grouse a few years back. I will PM you the location of the gate I was hunting behind at the time.
