getting around pretty well without cane for support stairs ok..
Two weeks post op - had the staples removed today. I'm sure that will help sleeping as I use my right side normally.
Discharged the day of surgery. _________________ Greg

My prayer is for your speedy recovery Greg.
Pat had a heart cath yesterday in preparation for aortic valve replacement. We will know after her next appointment whether it will be open chest or "TAVR". Of course we are hoping for the latter.
I'll keep you posted. _________________ http://knotholesawmill.com |

Greg, I am glad your surgery went well. My son's hip is doing good with only a little soreness now and then. Keep on with any therapy they give you and take care of yourself!
Magic, I hope Pat gets good news and doesn't have to have open chest. They have this stuff down now to where they can do almost everything with a scope.
I am wearing a heart monitor right now, the did a pulmonary-cardio study a couple of weeks ago and stopped it short as the EKG show a few extra heart beats or maybe not enough, either way I guess we will know soon.
Dr said he and I both needed to loose 20 pounds, I thought of asking him if he could just go ahead and loose 40 to save me the trouble!!!! _________________ See ya in the woods |

Our best wishes and prayers for Pat.
I’m getting around pretty well and working hard at PT. Going to work up some firewood this afternoon since the snow is almost gone. _________________ Greg

Hang in there it will all be worth it. I told my Dr. that my foot wanted to turn out when I walked after my hip replacement, He said, "That's because you let it!" He was right, I worked on keeping it straight forward when I walked and it was fine in a little while. I used to wear off the outsides of my shoes, after my hip replacement, the side replaced shows almost no wear and the off side has improved a lot.
Just remember to think about that climb to the Elk trail when times get tough with your therapy!
Second week of Cardio Rehab, doing some of the same things I was doing to rehab my knees so I am getting double benefits!

Hang in there Greg, it'll get better as you go along. I know you will be relieved to end your knee pain for the future. I wouldn't hesitate to have them replaced along with my other hip if that was what was needed. I made the mistake of suffering two or three years too long on my first hip.
I am still doing therapy from my hip dislocation and will be for another month. I hope it is helping to keep it from doing it again.
Going Monday to the pain doctor about the pain in my other hips and down my leg. Hope to get rid of that bother, having trouble sleeping because of that. _________________ See ya in the woods |

2.5 knee replacements completed- they are doing OK ( top half redone after loosening ) . R hip is talking - some complaint about having to do most of the work.
Yesterday's PT went better- Glutes are sore- that's a good thing. _________________ Greg

Yep! Come home from PT and feel like saying that saving my hip is killing my knees!! It will be worth it in the long run.
We had just enough snow this week end to say it snowed. They were prediction from 3-6" but we maybe go 1". _________________ See ya in the woods |

Greg, was your hip done anterior or posterior?
Of course I'm "asking for a friend".
It's good to read that you are recovering OK. I am now 2 years past my TKR and while it is not as good as the other it is certainly better than it was. _________________ http://knotholesawmill.com |

No joint replacements yet.
Went to the local hospital for a procedure on Jan. 19. The day before I had to take a COVID PCR test, if positive, procedure cancelled. Test was negative, went in for the procedure, tested COVID positive two days post. I went home to recoup after the procedure, so had minimal exposure, always masked. I was vaxxed and boosted. Spouse never tested positive, I quarantined away from her. A follow up virtual appt with the hospital, Dr commented that it look like I caught COVID there. You think????
Still hacking up phlegm, but I've had worse cases of bronchitis in my life.
Stay healthy folks. |

Ortho doc today, nothing ready to be replaced!! Got a shot in my right knee to keep it going. I am going to the pain doc tomorrow and hope to get a shot in my back for my hip and back pain. Ortho said my hip pain was from my back not from my hip joint!
Hope all are well or are on the way to well soon. I told the ortho that I think the hip therapy is helping but they are trying to kill my knees. _________________ See ya in the woods |

Hope Judy has good luck with the knee repair. I asked if they could just add grease fittings to mine so I could lub them at home but they didn't seem to like the idea.
I'm did my last scheduled PT today, I start the "wellness" program next week where I come in and work on my own.
Take care all! _________________ See ya in the woods |

Went and "Got Shot" yesterday in my back hopping to relieve the pain in my lower back and left hip/leg. Too early to tell but hoping for things to be better.
My PT is switching now to what they call their "Wellness program" where I go in two days a week and work on my own. This is a free service and sure beats having to pay a gym membership. I am planning to continue the program I was on for the most part but hoping to expand into more use of the leg curl and leg press machines. I had worked on them before covid while building my knees. I try to do a mile on the recumbent bicycle before going home each day, this is good for my legs, knees and cardio.
Hope all are well and happy. Going over to a friends farm tomorrow to shoot up some of this expensive ammo. We practice a few targets and then shoot for scores with pistols. Some days I do alright and some days I am off a little. I try to practice and get better overall. _________________ See ya in the woods |

Hope it helps- thanks for the update.
Nice option on the Wellness Program. My PT has a $10 a day option that I've use.
Definitely better than a gym and the staff are helpful too. _________________ Greg
