The Vangaurd (Howa made for Weatherby ) has a Leupold 3.5- 10 x 30 which works but...
I put a Vortex Viper 4-16 x 40 on Judy's BDL last year. I helped sight it in and really liked being able to crank it up and see the holes in the target. So I bought one for me.
It has a 30mm tube so needed new rings- the Tolley med height rings arrived along with scope leveling kit, and torque tool. I'll use the Tipton gun rest I bought for cleaning and just need to use a buddy's lap hone to check that the rings are true.

I think you will like the Vortex scope, I have a scope or two, binoculars and something similar to a red dot from them and like them all. I like the higher power scopes too, I usually leave mine on 4 to hunt and only zoom up if needed. I do like being able to see the holes when sighting in. I have a 4X16 and a couple of 4-12s. _________________ See ya in the woods
