Day 2
9-14 11:30am
Up on the mountain trying to relocate another good billy and trying to find the billy I scouted all summer.
Ran in to 2 other hunters (rifle hunters) and I hope we can all work together. I would hate to have someone shoot a goat out from under me when I am closing the distance.
I will also send more scenic pics in a few more emails.
The wind is really howling and we haven't spotted anything this morning. I am sure the goats are tucked away out of the wind in the cliffs. We are going to eat some lunch and then keep looking, hopefully the wind dies down cause it is Friggin cold with this wind
Check in later.

Day 2
9-14 5:53pm
Well unfourtunately I have not be able to relocate the billy I found last night, which sucks but we did find 8 goats on the far ridge (in the cliffs).
I am torn whether to hunt these goats or pack in to where I think my billy went. With the other hunting competition I think I will strap on the pack and make a day of it tomorrow. I also know of another good billy that way also so that will probably be my opening morning strategy. The goats on the far ridge would be close to impossible to take with a bow, and they would have a serious 1000' fall too. I would have to let them come out of the cliffs. _________________ Collin Cottrell

Hey all thanks so much I feel very blessed and fortunate.
Here is how it went down.
As I stated above I was very bummed about the scouting on Sunday mostly the chilling wind made the goats seem to disappear.
I decided that my dad (He was videoing for me for Muzzy's Bad to the Bone Bowhunting TV Show) and I would load up the Badlands 2200s and head to where I felt the goats would be hiding.
Opening morning we hiked into the basin and saw nothing (we did film a herd of elk with some nice bulls at 12,500'). We decided to glass one more basin and walked over a nob and saw 15 goats heading over a rocky point. My dad and I hot footed it up to that point and found the whole bunch bedded on a flat about 75 yards away. (by the way my dad was a former collegiate wrestler in his own right and a stud and hung in there with me without a complaint) We set up and looked over the goats closely. I found the one I wanted but it would have been a 50 + yard shot anyway I approached.
A buddy of mine had given me an all white suit and head mask (I looked like a member of KKK wearing it) and suggested I try walking right at them. Now was the time to give her a try. I put on my "goat suit" and with my dad set up with camera rolling I worked off to the side and into that herd of goats.
I couldn't believe they all just sat there looking at me. The wind was right and I even had a goat half alseep look at me and close it's eyes and go back to sleep. I worked my way into 15 yards from my chosen goat and knocked an arrow. At that most of them stood up. My chosen quarry started to walk away a little uneasy and when I drew it ran about 5 steps. I gauged the shot at 20 yards and pin wheeled it. The whole herd exploded and I had goats running everywhere. I kept my eye on the hunched goat I had shot and knocked another arrow.
I shot a second arrow (the goat was just over 30 yards quartering away) and it piled up less than 8 yards from where I shot the second time. To say I was exstatic would be an understatement. I immediately put my bow down upon seeing the goat go down and made a snow angel.
I had finally done it!! And on top of that on video!!
As I approached my goat I was suprised to find out that it was a nanny (a big nanny with a bunch of distinguishing features of a billy but a nanny none the less) and not a billy. No matter I was thrilled we finished the video wrap up and took some pics and skinned and quartered her out, running completely on adrenaline and packed it out.
What a thrill to have taken such an impressive trophy and to top it off on video and with my dad!
I am loading up and heading to the Missouri Breaks in MT for an elk hunt tomorrow morning or I would post more pics. I hope this gets you all updated but I will fil you in when I get back on my elk hunt.
Peace..... _________________ Trev

| Amazing story, Trevon. I'm surprised that your goat is a nanny. I thought it looked like a billy. |

Trev,
Way to make it happen bro. I imagine you weren't cold once you saw that goat go down!
That is great you got it on film. I like what I see on the Muzzy Show. Fred and Michelle are great reps for the west, and you will be a great addition there too.
Just gotta ask, if you were huntin' at 12, 500 how high were you camped? _________________ "There’s a land where the mountains are nameless, And the rivers all run god knows where; There are lives that are erring and aimless,And deaths that hang by a hair….

I can just visualize you in that white suite stalking along! Great story, and to share it with your dad is "priceless", to coin a phrase. My whole family is looking forward to the show. _________________ We are constantly faced with excellent opportunities, brilliantly disguised as impossible situations.
